For BWBR’s 2020 Winter card our team wanted to design a mailer that would make our client’s feel warm and connected during this isolating time. We began the design process with many ideas for this card. We suggested advent calendars, story book themes, and outdoor winter sports. Finally, we thought of a way to include our office staff from the comfort of their own homes. With all staff being remote, the one thing we all have in common is our cup of coffee in the morning.
We recruited the staff to take a photo with their favorite mug. Next, we incorporated a plaid pattern design to accent the ‘warm and cozy’ theme. Following the plaid diagonal lines on the back of the card, we created a diamond grid system for each staff members photo. After assembling all of the photos, we were able to finalize the copy and determine the amount of folds needed for the card. We decided on an a vertical 8 fold accordion card. The card was a huge success company wide. Our clients appreciated seeing BWBR’s staff members and also enjoyed the interactivity of the accordion style card.
Through this project, I was able to see the printing process from start to finish on a professional mailer. The team and I paid a visit to our printer and made sure all of the proofs were correct before sending them to press. After this, I personally hand folded and assembled the cards into their respective envelopes.
