This project originated as a Christmas gift for my Dad, who owns land with chickens and a custom-built coop. He enjoys sharing eggs with friends and neighbors, using his land as a community gathering space.
Inspired by his passion, I researched existing egg carton designs and incorporated personal elements. The pattern reflects the coop’s painted side, establishing brand colors. “Graceland Organics” derives from the street name, and I included a hand-drawn sketch of the actual coop and chickens.
After multiple prototypes exploring various fonts, patterns, and colors, I finalized the design. The printing process required a flat-top carton, which I found at a local store. Using sticker paper allows for easy application and promotes reuse and upcycling.
Working with a local manufacturer, I produced a test batch. The positive feedback from family and customers was rewarding, though some minor adjustments were necessary. Seeing the final product in use, protecting and showcasing farm-fresh eggs, brought me immense joy.
This project went beyond designing an egg carton; it created packaging that tells a story, protects a product, and respects the environment. It’s gratifying to see this labor of love circulating in the community as eggs are shared.
